Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about how Pixlush works, our privacy commitment, and our technology.
Privacy & Security
Are my files really not uploaded anywhere?
Yes. For all our standard tools (conversion, compression, PDF merging, etc.), we use 100% Client-Side Architecture. This means the processing engine is downloaded to your browser and the file manipulation happens entirely on your own device's RAM. We never see your files.
How can I trust that you aren't saving my data?
You don't just have to take our word for it. You can open your browser's Developer Tools (F12) and check the Network tab while converting a file. You will see that no image or PDF data is being sent out from your computer during the process.
Do you use my images to train AI models?
Absolutely not. Because your files never leave your device for standard processing, we physically cannot use them for any training. For our specific AI tools (like Background Removal), the images are processed in memory and immediately discarded after the result is returned. We do not retain any user files.
Pricing & Limits
Is Pixlush really completely free?
Yes. Every tool on our website is 100% free to use. There are no premium tiers, no hidden paywalls, and no subscription prompts.
Why is it free?
Traditional converters have to pay massive server costs to process your files in the cloud. Because we use your device's computing power to process the files locally, our server costs are nearly zero. We support the site through unobtrusive advertising.
Are there any file size limits?
We do not enforce any artificial file size limits. However, because the processing happens in your browser, the actual limit depends on your device's available memory (RAM). Most modern computers can easily handle files up to 50MB-100MB.
Do you add watermarks to the output files?
Never. Your output files are completely clean and yours to use commercially or personally.
Technical Capabilities
Does Pixlush work on mobile devices?
Yes! Our entire platform is fully responsive and optimized for mobile browsers (Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android). You can convert HEIC photos directly from your iPhone without installing any apps.
Does converting images reduce their quality?
It depends on the format and the tool. Converting from a lossless format (PNG) to a lossy format (JPG) will technically alter data, but we use high-quality encoding (90%+) so the difference is visually indistinguishable. Our compression tools explicitly aim to reduce file size while maintaining the original visual fidelity.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes, almost all our tools support batch processing. You can drag and drop dozens of files into the upload area and they will be processed simultaneously.
What browsers are supported?
We support all modern browsers including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best performance.
Troubleshooting
Why did my browser crash during conversion?
If you are processing extremely large files (like a 2GB video or a 500-page PDF) or attempting to convert dozens of large files simultaneously, your browser may run out of allocated memory. Try processing fewer files at a time or closing other memory-intensive browser tabs.
Do I need to be connected to the internet?
You need an internet connection to load the Pixlush website and download the necessary processing libraries to your browser. Once loaded, however, the actual file conversion happens locally offline.
Why is the downloaded file a different format than I expected?
Some operating systems (like older versions of Windows) may not natively recognize modern formats like WebP or AVIF out of the box, changing their icons or default handlers. The file itself is correctly converted, but you may need to update your image viewer software.
What should I do if a tool isn't working?
First, try clearing your browser cache and refreshing the page. If the issue persists, try disabling ad-blockers or privacy extensions, as they can sometimes interfere with the local WebAssembly scripts we use for processing.
